Infectious Enteritis

Is what I was diagnosed with the last week and a half. One night I went to sleep and awoke with temperature of 101.9 at 2:30 in the morning. I dunno what happened. Then like a instant I had to go to the bathroom, where I really really needed to move my bowels. And by "move my bowels" I mean I had to piss out fo my ass. It was the worst I've ever been sick. Then for the next four days, I slept in the fetal position because any other position would make the stomach cramps start, nevertheless the stomach cramps came every 15 minutes or so, and I didn't eat. I was afraid to eat. This isn't some kind of "I'm afraid to eat that because it looks werid but Im afraid to eat that because I don't want to sitting on the toilet." Man those four days was like hell. I honestly can't remember ever being sick as sick I was a week ago. I finally had a bowl of rice by Sunday but the stomach cramps still came and went. So why didn't I go to the doctor you might say? Well on Wednesday night the pain got umbearable and I went down to the emergency room. And the dumbass doctors kept passing it off as if it was just a stomach flu and I would be over it in a couple of days. I felt so weird, there were like 3 doctors and two nurses and they all came to gawk at the fat "gaijin", foreigner that probably ate too much and has a stomach ache. Anyway they gave me the smallest dosage of antibiotics and some fever medicine. The other things is that I didn't go to work that day and taht means I need to take a paid leave day unless I get a doctor's note which it then becomes a sick leave. Anyway I ask te emergency staff for a doctor's note and they say that they can't because its the emergency room. WTF?!?! Wouldn't they have more authority to assign doctor notes? Anyway I try to make them understand that I NEED ONE and they give me a lecture about how they are not supposed to do that and everything. So its Wednesday night and I ask if I can get a three day one which would mean I get Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday givign me the weekend to try and recooperate. They kinf of chuckle and make the comment, "oh you look like you have the strength to got o work on Friday but maybe your confidence is lacking." WTF!?!? I just told you I have stomach cramps every 15 minutes, I piss out of my ass, and that I have a fever. Man I was so pissed but didn't even have the energy to glare at them...

So I leave to go home to have the worst case of the chills while going into convulsions from the pain in my stomach. Anyway I somehow survive until Saturday but I can't take it any longer. The pain just doesn't want to go away. So we go back to the emergency room to find a much more competent doctor. He puts my on IV, gives me an ultra sound, x-ray, and a blood test. Everything comes up negative and says that I just have a really bad infection in my small intestines. he gives me triple the dosage of antibiotics and pain killers. He even went out of his way to explain each and every pill he prescribed. At least it was a Saturday and didn't need to get a note but he did say that if I still had pains that I should come back to the hospital on Monday. And I did...

So I go back on Monday to see an internal medicine doctor and he was just as good. He even sympathized with me and said that I was in no condition to go back to work for a while. And by for a while he gave me a doctor's note that gave me permission to stay home the whole week. Finally a doctor that understands how I feel. He presribed me more medication and sent my home to rest. The first few days, I was still having cramps but by Thursday I was starting to feel much better and finally got my appetite back. I felt so good on Friday that I decided to give Krystal a break and cleaned the house of dust and sickness-ness.

So its Sunday and I can honeslty say that I'm at about 95% to the "old me." The good news being that I can eat and actually function like a normal human being but the bad news is that I have to go to work. Its a toss up but I think I'm gonna have to go with "not being sick" compared to going to work. On a good note because I was out for a week and a half, I got to skip the schools that I don't like, or my worst schools. And I have a month or so of only good schools.

Being sick gave me a lot of time to call home at a decent hour to talk to friends and family. I got a chance to talk to Joel and his life. Sounds the same as usual except the fact that he's started to concentrate more in school. Good for Joel! We also talked at length about where the "club" is now. Seems like its still alive but totally hooked up to a respirator and a 24 hour nurse on standy by. I also got a chance to talk to Jake and Lauren. They're both excited to come to Japan. Krystal has so much at school that she already made an itinerary. It looks pretty packed and them coming is the thing driving me to finish up this last month. It going to be AWESOME!

That's all that's been happening so far in Kyoto. Maybe after I start school again I'll have something to bitch about or something to talk about. But until then... 3 PEACE!!!
