Good to be back but not...
Hey everyone, It's Friday and that means that I'm at the school that I have the most trouble in. Actually its only one grade that really gets me messed up. Anyway I came in today expecting to cruise since I was not given a new schedule. They can't possible want me to teach today right? WRONG! As i walked in the door the teacher is already telling me that I have fifth graders and one fourth grade class. So, ok I guess I'm willing to teach them... what?..... You have no plans? What do I have in planned? HOW THE HELL WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW THE PLANS!?!? So where does this put me? Rushing around for 45 minutes trying to scrape something up to teach. I did warn them that if I couldn't find anything then I was gonna do foods.
Anyway I decided to scramble for some occupation pictures and that's what I did. I couldn't believe that no one knew what was gonna happen when I came. I hate when the schools do that. Oh here you go, an extra lesson, becuase we know you'll do it. That mentality is really starting to piss me off. But all in all the kids are there to make it all better.
What do you do as an elementary foreign language teacher when you have no idea to do? Make them play a game. And the game I decided to play was the ever popular gesture game. It's always fun to laugh at the kids when they try to do anything dealing with gestures. But what really made me laugh was when I looked over to see one of the teachers trying to warm up his feet above the classroom heater. What a funny sight!! I starting lauging really hard because I didn't know what to do. And to takle the attention off me, I decided to point at a kid doing a gesture to make the game seem that much more fun. But yeah what a hilarious sight...
Actaully more good news, I have my BOE health check thing next Friday and it just so happens to be the day that I'm scheduled to teach all of the sixth grade classes. So the planned worked I guess. But at the same time I was a little disaapointed because that same Friday is an open house kind of day, where the students' parents are allowed to watch their child in any of their classes. I thought that might be a good day to actually get something through to the sixth graders but oh wells...
